Okay, so tonight I had time to work on the issues I was having. The MAP sensor wasn't connected, which did need to be extended. The oil pressure sensor also needed extended. So after stripping some wires, soldering, and reinstalling, everything is good.

One thing to note is, the manifolds I bought have the newer bigger flange size. My Durango has a smaller flange and my factory exhaust won't connect to the manifolds. I ordered some flanges that will fit, and I will have to update my mid-pipes (off-road) to fit the new manifolds.

Here is another test start. Sorry it's short, it was midnight, had open exhaust manifolds, and no coolant in the engine.

Today I had a chance to do some more work on the Durango. I installed the two front o2 sensors and the tune file I got from HemiFever.

Unfortunately the first tune file didn't really do much for me. Still won't idle on it's own, and once it drops below 1000 RPM, it sputters and dies, especially if I put it in gear.

Sean at HemiFever said there was an issue in the DiabloSport dealer software when doing some of the fuel mapping with my PCM file so he's working on resolving that.

It'll probably be a few more days before I even get a chance to work on it again, but that's all I've got for now.

The attached image is of the Trinity while the engine is running with my initial tune.

Today I worked on finishing my custom 3" to 2.5" cat-less mid-pipes. Seems to be doing okay. Will try to do some data logging tonight when it cools off outside.

Video of exhaust, no cats, no muffler, just resonators.

Well, I have some terrible news.

Yesterday I lost a cylinder, so I pulled the plugs on the dead cylinder and the spark plugs were smashed. Decided to scope the cylinder and there is some foreign debris in it, embedded in the top of the piston. I suspected it might be a piston ring, but it has 150 PSI compression. I've added pics of the scope screen.

I guess I'll probably be ordering a head, and pistons soon. 😟

Valve seat would be my guess.

It looks like some kind of nail or pin or something straight. Not too sure what it is yet. I'm thinking of popping the head off today to find out. I won't be able to pull the engine back out until next week at the earliest. I really can't imagine what it could be or where it came from, and the scope isn't really that great of quality either.

Yeah, it does look a nail....you think something was in the intake manifold?
Valve seats are the only thing I can think of that could dislodge from the head and cause that kind of damage....but you'd know it, it'd make a heck of a racket.

It didn't make a sound. It just acted like I lost fire on a cylinder. It's possible whatever it is came from in the intake. It's possible one of the many hands in our shop caused it to happen. No way to know for sure. I've driven it about 65 miles since I put the engine in without any mechanical issues, and now this. It's definitely enough to tick me off, especially since I've had to pull the engine out 3 times already since I started.

Well, it is definitely a broken piston. Possibly from the issues I had tuning it and trying to drive-log it while it was running so rich.
