I wouldn't go for the real big wheels. 18" would be about as big as I'd go. The exhaust tips need to be different I agree. What about rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrummmmblle? If it's got that Hemi?make it breath!

I just wish I had the mula.

I don't mind the Aspen the way it looks stock. This modded one is way over the top, IMHO. The grille looks like some big toothy grin <-- like that. The tips wouldn't be bad if they didn't have that center section in them. What's the purpose for them? Are they whistle tips designed by Bubb Rubb*?
As for the wheels? My opinion is too ghetto. Since 20s are available from the factory, maybe (a big maybe) 22s as a "bling" upgrade.

I'm also not a big fan of resurrecting old names for new cars. I still remember the original Aspen, a Dodge sedan from the 60s to the early 80s. Definitely more sedate than sedan.

I just saw my first Aspen ad last night. I haven't looked at the specs yet. Is this another bullet round through the foot (directly competing with their own product line)?

My thoughts as well. I don't see the big deal about the Aspen. IMO the nice thing about the D is it's still a "work" vehicle. I'd rather not have the leather seats and stuff, but they do clean up nice & easy.

But the Aspen? Looks kind nancy boy to me.

    Well

Funny you should say that Warren. At the plant they stated to Indy and me that they were building 4 Aspens for every D so it's outselling the D right now 4 to 1.
I guess it's nice people really want those luxo SUV's but I still want the truck feel myself.

    Dodge Guy,

The Aspen was only around from 1976-1980. I know I owned one. It was designed to replace the Dart and Valiant. Back then Chrysler almost went belly up before Lee Iococa came along. He was asked on Saturday Night Live if he recalled the Dodge Aspen and Plymouth Volare. He replied "Yes?about 7 or 8 times". A little humor from when SNL was somewhat funny.

One real big mistake Chrysler and Dodge made back then was to fire most of their R&D department. The concept was right but it wasn't very well refined for a car.

However, that said, I think they did do their homework with a little help from the Germans. I do like what they came up with.

As Prez Steve said, the Aspen to D production ratio isn't very good for the D. Even with both models added together, production is at less than 100,000 vehicles per year (the '00 D had ~220,000 producted as a comparison.) The plant is using 1 shift with the two shift workers alternating with each other weekly. When we were there, the day shift was off and the evening shift was working days for that week.

Interesting, DCX is/was concerned with the Aspen eating into/hurting their premium product, the Jeep Commander sales (see earlier posts in this forum section.) I don't think they expected "Aspen to D" competition to turn out as much as it has turned out to be. That shows DCX under estimated the public desire for a higher end D (they should surf these forums a bit more often don't 'cha think!)

IMHO, the Aspen should have been the Gen3 D.

IndyD <--- still pineing for that free Aspen as an official advisor and commentator.

The exhaust tips look like floor drain covers. Come on here Chrysler??

Surfing year old posts there eh Bugman? I think with the Aspen cancelled, it was more than the exhaust pipes that sucked.
