The first one was ready to pull my friend's Ford and Fifth Wheel out of the mud and the second one is towing my first Tag along (since replaced with a different one).
What does that trailer weigh loaded (approx)? Ours is around 4,800 dry, (pretty heavy for a 20'er), so I'm guessing #5,500ish loaded. Do you have air bags or any rear suspension mods?
Cool. I started this thread mainly for my own interest, but also to show the wifey that the new D will, in fact, pull our 20' TT. Hope this takes off! Really wanna see more pics. I'll have mine up hopefully next week after I pick up the new ride!
That one was 4500#. I got a different one now that is more like 6000#. I have a load leveling, Dual Cam anti-sway Reese hitch as well as an Add-a-leaf in the rear springs. I have air bags in back as well, but don't need them with the LL Hitch.
Doesn't have to be a TT. Anything will work. I just wanted TT's in particular because I'm trying to set the wife's mind at ease. She doesn't think it will be enough. But...any pics of a D towing would be great. The bigger the better!
I towed a 26 ft (4500 lb empty) Travel Trailer all over the country with my 2000D (before I bought my RAM). With the 5.9 and 3.92 gearing, you shouldn't have any trouble towing. Contact me - I wrote an article about towing with the Durango for the Club's D-Zine years ago - but the info is still pertinent.
