    Louder Sound?

What's the best/least expensive way to achieve a louder sound from my Hemi without a whole new exhaust system? I would love a Borla Exhaust, but there is no way on God's Green Earth that my wife would let me buy that!

    Just a BT catch can!
Start hacking! There are a multitude of ways of getting more sound. Most just replace the rear "resonators" with a straight through design. I would like to see someone try an X-Pipe Muffler in place of the "suitcase" muffler in the mid section.

I've actually come to enjoy my R/T exhaust. It's not loud by any means, but it does tell people it's NOT a V6 under the hood. I had a 24" magnaflow on my RAM and I loved that. It was just enough bark without being annoying to both me and the people around me.

I run a Blastin' Bobs kit, the one with Magnaflow resonators. For a few hundred bucks, gave me the sound I was looking for without having to spend big money. And you can install it yourself. Great bang for the buck.

For the PERFECT sound, replace the mid mufflers with Flowmaster 40's and delete the rear resonators. Simple & inexpensive. 2 police officers told me that car sounds awesome. Don't overdue it or spend a thousand dollars. Cost me all of $150 to do.

    Looking!!!!
Just picked up a 17 RT a couple days ago and I love it. I would like just a little more and get that PERFECT sound. I like the idea of spending $150 for a little extra sound. What is my first step? I am new to forum and no nothing about automobiles other than I love my new "family friendly" Durango RT!!!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Honestly, pick whatever sound you like. There are people who will try to convince you to get full cat back but I think that's excessive... I replaced my rear resonators with a stainless steel Gibson axle back and I'm going to be getting an x-pipe installed in place of the mid muffler. I love that sound personally.

Go on eBay or Summit racing or somewhere similar. Look for flowmaster super 44 Mufflers (you'll need 2), or any flowmaster 40 series muffler. Be sure to check the stock exhaust size for your car. I believe it's 2.5". So make sure your muffler is 2.5" inlet/outlet.

Once delivered to your home, go to an exhaust shop. Just tell them to replace your 'mid Mufflers' with your new flowmasters. Then tell them to cut off your rear resonators and replace them with straight pipe. Then of course, they'll have to weld your chrome tips back onto the straight pipes.

Then your done. Best sound you've ever heard coming from an SUV.
