Question Playing Video from an SD Card - Is it possible?

    Good Morning all,

I just purchased my First Dodge. 2014 certified pre-owned Durango Citadel. Wonderful machine.
I was wondering if it’s possible to play videos using the SD Card reader instead of the DVD player. I talked to my sales person and he said he is not aware of it being possible but said I should check with Dodge to see if there is an update to the software.
I did check and yes, there was an update. I updated the Uconnect but it did not recognize any of the MP4 movies on it.

If there a setting I’m missing? Or maybe an app I should install?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Ron

I don't believe it is possible, but if someone can figure out a hack I'd be all over it myself.

Just got off the phone with UConnect support.
Was informed that the option to play video's from either the USB of the SD Slot is available with UConnect Theater only.

I hang a fire tablet right in front of the uconnect screen with an iOttie mount mini ipad mount. Works great for videos (its low enough so people cant see its on when behide you) bluetooths audio to stereo and i have a 128gig mircosd card loaded with movies.

Like $30 for the mount, paid $33 for the fire , and $20 or so for the sdcard. Beats the heck out of spending $500+ for an piggyback android system on your uconnect unless you can convince the wife!

btw the fire 8"hd has more "nits" brighter screen than the fire 7", will be upgrading to it soon. On a bright day its impossible see dark scenes.

The two 10" screens on the head rest for kiddos in the back seat. Front uconnect screen is used for controls/disc/media for back screens.

OK, so just the standard video entertainment system. I have that in my 15 RT. You can't play videos from usb or memory card on it either.

It will play burned DVDs though.

They told me it's available on the 2017 Pacifica right now and will be rolled out to the rest of the fleet from 2018 on.

    Bummer - but I found a workaround.

The Good Folks at Best Buy Stereo in Rockaway NJ are going to remove one HDMI port and hide inside the seat back. They will install a ROKU Streaming stick to it and run power. I'll have my backseat baby sitter now.
