I'm going to use part of this as an argument to Chrysler to give me a warranty coverage. Considering they sub contract whipple if my info is correct.

The 2013 and 2014 WD (Durango) has an available oil cooler for the 5.7 as part of the police service package {AHV Production code}. As it turns out, with some part swapping, all the parts which make this up are a direct fit for the 5.7L WK2. It does involve some work though and it's not just an oil cooler.

    You will need:

05038677AB Water pump. It's different from the stock one in that it has an outlet for the oil cooler inlet.

05038697AA Oil cooler tube connector (goes onto the water pump nipple).

52014895AC Radiator outlet hose. Includes the hose to the oil cooler.

52014896AB Engine coolant to oil cooler hose. This one goes from the water pump to the oil cooler. Includes a bracket that mounts to the engine.

06509216AA Bolt. For mounting the bracket from the above hose.

04893310AA Engine oil cooler. Mounts onto the existing oil filter adapter. Includes seal and extended oil filter fitting. Check out the link below for pics of this setup.

I've had mine installed for 9 months now...spring, summer, fall and now winter with no water pump issues. Sounds like a bad break...

So I thought I smelled coolant the first day I had picked it up, and was told it would go away. I also mentioned that temps appearing to be a bit high, particularly taking a bit of time to cool down, and said that would go away... Well it didn't, and after further investigating it, there's a small leak on the water pump I believe near the pulley of the water pump.

Dodge/Fiat C are refusing to warranty it (obviously so), and at 24k miles - my truck was flawless before bringing it to the shop.

When I spoke with the installer, he said something to the effect of the pulley pulling different, and that may have caused it - my BS trigger in my head is going off. They've already done body damage to my vehicle, and some old parts they took money off of. My gut leads me to believe that the installer did something to prompt this.

    Thoughts?

Should be covered under the Whipple extended warranty (if you had it installed by an authorized Whipple shop & sprang for the coverage).

'17 Durango R/T - hope to find one soon !

Not sure I understand why it's not covered under factory warranty. Unless they modified the tension on the belt driving the water pump you have done very little to affect that component, I can see having to pay labor to replace if the SC plumbing makes the RR more difficult. Not sure what you paid to have the work done but you should get a letter from the dealer as to why they denied coverage.

I think my dealer is "special" and they decided to notify Chrysler. I found out that it was the bearing that had went out too. According to the dealer, and what I've found online (not to say it's all true) - it's a known problem under 35k miles.

I called Chrysler and had a created a case # to plead my situation. Furthermore will be taking more action if need be should Chrysler chose to not honor it.
