Quick question on the lifetime warranty. I believe it is nontransferable if we sell the car. That's fine, we plan to keep the new Durango for a decade or more. My question is what if the car is totalled in an accident - are we still out of luck? I would hate to pay $2200 for a lifetime warranty, then wreck the car a year later and have to pay another $2200 for a new warranty for the replacement Durango. Thoughts? I wouldn't mind going with a more traditional warranty if they had something like a 10 year 120k option, but nothing is that long other than lifetime.

By the way, from what I have seen online a lifetime max care Chrysler warranty with $100 deductible is $2185 from the online vendors. $1800 is amazing.

From what I was told, it doesn't kick in until after factory warranty ends. You'd get all your money refunded if something happened during factory warranty or you got rid of the car. After that you would get a prorated portion refunded.

That still sounds like a really good buy compared to what I spent. The funny thing is the finance manager acted like he was doing me such a huge favor at $3K...and I bought it (literally) hook, line and sinker. One lives and learns.

Where are you seeing the lifetime for $2200? Someone on the forum told me to go here: Chrysler extended warranty, Factory backed extended warranties for Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles and it shows $2435 for lifetime on the vehicle.

    Any tips would be great!

We paid 2180 lifetime max care with $100 deductible. We got our packet in the mail right about the 2 week mark. You can negotiate the price with your dealer. If they won't you can go to any dealer and you have 12 months/12000 miles to get it.

If you entered your email, you'll get a coupon in a few days.

IIRC I got my lifetime maxcare $100 on the GC for about $2150 from the dealer after minor negotiation. IIRC actual cost is as low as $1800

There are some things (like the rental car) that kick in before your factory warranty expires.

I don't think I was offered the lifetime coverage. I ended up w 6yr 72k for $1,500. Can I upgrade or refund and go somewhere else?

I paid $2185.00 for lifetime MAXIMUM CARE with $100.00 deductible and also purchased the 7 year unlimited millage tire and wheel road hazard plan for $275. Mine was listed online within a few days and had the paperwork in the mail after about 3 weeks. My dealer matched the price I could get online from Zeigler.

That's a genuine Mopar plan? I'd think you can cancel or convert it if you act fast. But I have never done that.

I bought the lifetime/100 deductible for about 2200. After thinking about it I wasn't sure it was the best option. But I didn't change it. The lifetime warranty becomes null and void once the value of the vehicle is less than the repair. The key will be how much value a nine or ten year Durango has left when a major component like the tranny or engine needs to be replaced.
