I have a 2006 Durango and to say the truth it's driving me nuts. You crank the engine and start driving and suddenly when you put the turn signal to the left, it blinks to the right. You hit the high beam switch and it turns the wipers on. During normal driving you heard the bell and all the instrument panel indicators light up (oil, check engine, ABS, etc.) and the instruments go to zero (speedometer, rpm, fuel level, etc.) then suddenly go back to normal. I went to the dealer and they ran some test and said that everything's OK. Please let me know if anyone else has had the same problems. What can I do?
On ALL of the Generation 1 Durangos, EVERYTHING you're describing would be CLASSIC symptoms of a failing/failed "Central Timing Module" also called the CTM.
Again on the Gen1 D, dealer repair is about $475. The dealer swaps it out and reprograms BOTH key fobs.
Assuming there's a CTM on the Gen 2, then 99.999% that's your problem. For a 2006 I'd assume it's still under warranty. Nevertheless, make sure you take BOTH key fobs with you for the servicing.
There was one other case where the main power connection at the PDC under the hood caused something like this.
It was corroded and loose.

I went to a friend of mine who works in a Mopar autoparts. We talked about it and agreed that maybe there was some problem with the starting switch. When we checked the switch in the store system we found out it had been updated and even has a different part number. It's sells for $40 so I ordered it and will let you know what happens.

What would the starting switch have anything to do with anything in your list?
Actually if you're talking about the ignition switch in the column it could have a short! If the switch in the column for some reason has a short or a bad contact it'll make the dash lights and gauges flutter a bit. DO you have a large assortment of keys on your key ring, is it heavy. This can often cause the tumbler to screw up and cause this problem. to verify this next time it happens wiggle the ignition key and see if power is restored. Steve

These aren't automatic things that are happening, it's when he does something. Plus neither of those are starting related. Dash lights, chimes, yes. Turn signals and wipers? Not unless the Gen2s are a lot goofier that I thought. :bugeyed:
A short there Indy could cause a lot of weird stuff remember a lot in there operates off a ground system
I agree still with CTM but nothing would phase me now with what I have seen over the last 7 Years Steve

Okay then. I'm convinced it could be a short. We'll see if he posts back after the fix.
