    Rear heater core

04 dodge durango 5.7 4wd how hard is it to replace the rear heater core? It blows cold in the rear and when the heat is on in the rear I'm losing water. I am assuming that is the problem. Advice?

    TB:
Are you losing water or coolant? There is also an AC evap back there. More likely, your issue is that the plastic flapper door that directs the air between AC and heat has broken.
IIRC, you will have to remove that side of the interior which is doable, but not very fun.

As a stop gap measure, you can bypass the core by gently removing the two connections at the base of the core under the rear quarter panel, and using some tubing/ pipe to close it up.
Once that is done, you could also pressure test the core in place, and see if it holds pressure.
Do you use the rear enough to warrant a repair, or might the bypass do you for now?
