Durango tripped code P0442. EVAP system small leak

I reset it with the the scan tool but it comes back on about every 100 or so miles.

I just replaced the gas cap with a locking gas cap about a month ago and I also might be guilty of refueling with the truck running.

Where should I start looking? Which vac lines are associated with this code?

    Thanks again.

Did you use a Mopar locking cap? If not, put the stocker back on.
Next under the D there's a vacuum canister with several hard plastic lines coming off it and it's common for some of those to split and cause a minor evap leak.

Start with the simple by eliminating the last changed variable.

First, put the stocker cap back on and see what happens. Second, check the lines to the evap canister under the D. Let us know from there if those don't do it.

    Ok guys:

I too have the dreaded PO442 code, and have looked pretty exhaustively for the cause without success.

Today, I spent an hour or so removing the battery tray to make sure none of the lines nearby or underneath were cracked.
All are good to go from what I can see.

If I erase the code, the CE light will stay off for a few days, then when I make the first start of the day one day it'll come on when I'm a thousand feet or so into the trip.

Already took care of the common cannister hoses several months back when I got te PO456 code.

I guess it could be the gas cap, as Lord knows we Durango owners are well aquainted with removal/installation of that bugger.

    Guys and Gals:

Still getting the CE light and attendant P0442. Looked over all hoses I can fine including cannister and under the battery tray. All appear to be in good shape.

Now, am getting the P0442 along with the P0455 large leak.

Please scratch your proverbial brains, and advise on what to do next.

Did you put a new Gas cap on to try it and a Mopar one will work best.

    Hi Steve;

Haven't done that yet. I guess I'll give the dealer a call, and see how many children they want for one??

If at some point the cap was dropped pretty good it could be a problem

My cap has the OEM tether. it has never been more that a few inches from the filler neck.

    Dodgeparts.com wants ~$13 for one.

When I first got my Durango it was throwing that code also, I had fixed it by getting under the Durango and next to the air canister I replaced the lines going to it, I haven't had the problem since then. If that helps any
