    Shelby Durango

While going to Toy's R Us to buy some toys (go figure) for a (non DOC truck club) NorCal Toys for Tots run I saw this sweet looking blue Shelby Durango in the parking lot. It was dark out so I knew it'd be some long exposure and the flash isn't close to being powerfull enough to use outdoors in the dark so I grab my tripod to take a few shots. While I was setting up the tripod the ower came out and we talked, he said this was Shelby Durango number 96 and I believe he said his Red Shelby Durango was number 98. Well I didn't get the shot, but he said it was too dirty to have any pictures taken of it, but would let me know sometime latter. This is the second time I have seen this Durango in the area so if he never calls me I have a feeling I'll run into him again an hopefully have my camera and better lighting.

I've seen at least one running around SoCal from time to time. I haven't had a chance to stop and talk to the owner yet.

I too have run into one of an owner of Shelby Durango. He's pilot for the Air Force? its definately a very sweet ride! The first few times I'd seen it his wife was driving it, as if it was just and ordinary SUV? Well when I finally got a chance to run into him filling up at the base gas station along side my 2000? he was pretty proud of it. I don't remember which # it was but I'll be sure to swing by if he's still stationed there when I get back home on leave in Feb

FYI actual Shelbys only came in blue. It may have been an SP360. Star Coach who was one of the companies that did the Shelby conversions continued with a run of Durangos that offered the Shelby style modifications.

The one I see around SoCal is in Culver City I think.

I know the original Shelbys came with a KenneBelle SuperCharger.
How about the StarCoach ones? Anyone know? I also think the Shelbys were just 2WD, is that correct too?

    Thanks

Except for one that was created for a special "Best Buy" giveaway back in 98-99. That one was Canary Yellow with Black Stripes and came with a killer audio system (consisting of equipment sold by Best Buy of course!)

Supercharger was optional. 4x4 was also optional. Starcoach offered both options.

Neil I believe you're right. When I bought my 99 SLT+ I was bidding on what appeared to be the last Shelby in Cali, and it was blue with white stripes. If I remember correcly on the Dodge site they didn't offer any color choices, but there were several options some being intake options, seating, and 2wd or 4wd, stero and such. The carbon fiber interior, gound effects, 4 wheel disc brakes were standard.

I think this persons Shelby's may be the SP360's, though he has the Shelby badging and he has the carbon fiber interior, the shelby seats front, back, and third row. Different rims that look aftermarket. He does have the KenneBelle SuperCharger, and all wheel disc brakes.

I have seen this Shelby/SP360 twice in Sunnyvale, CA.
