    Check gauges Light

Driving to work this morning my check gauges light came on. I looked down and the temp gauge was approaching 3/4. Ambient temp was 18C - not hot at all. Slowed down and temp went back to normal and I took it easy the rest of the way in. It happened while accelerating. Any ideas? Thermostat?

Possible T-stat issue, but I'd check the coolant level first. It could also be a faulty sending unit for the gauge itself. Start with the coolant level and go from there.

Also please let us know the information on your D; Engine size, model year, etc. You could put that info in your sig which would make it easier to help you with any issues.

I assume it's. I could hear the fan running while in a drive-thru.

check the fluid level cold in both the recovery bottle and at the radiator cap. coolant should be up to the radiator cap neck if there are no air leaks.

I agree its sounds low on coolant. Other than that it, could be the stat.

    Back from Long weekend.

Low coolant was the culprit. I have no signs of a leek. Is this common over time for the coolant needing a top up?

was it low in the coolant bottle or at the radiator cap? they point at different problems.
