    Locking Billit Gas Door

I'm considering buying a BRUSHED CHROME LOCK BILLET FUEL GAS DOOR for my Durango. They're listed on eBay for $120.

Just afraid of kids in the neighborhood siphoning my tank empty!

Can some one tell me how the billet gas door is actually mounted to the Durango?? Is it secure of just all for show??

If anyone could, I'd to see a photo of the billet gas door opened and mounted on the D.

    Byee,
My Aluminum gas cap doesn't have a lock. Come to think of it, I just might try and get one installed. If it can't be done, I might have to purchase an Aluminum gas cap with lock from eBay aswell.

From the "If they want it bad enough" corner?
These geniuses simply started drilling holes in the bottom of gas tanks.

    byee,

Spend $5 and get a locking gas cap. Then go to Dodge and get the Gen2 fuel door replacement. It's a nice chrome unit and has a Ram's head on the inside. It's also an exact replacement.

BTW, the dealer will tell you it doesn't fit. It does, it's the same thing.

Are there any photos available for the GEN 2 ones from Dodge or even a part number??

    Damn,

I have followed just about every one of Indy's Gen2 modifications, but, this is the first I heard that the chrome fuel doors fit!

I agree with the above; part numbers please!

A lot of folks here have tried locking gas caps and had code problems with the tank venting improperly. Best way would be the gas door. You could always hire a local gang to stand guard on your D at night to prevent such things. LOL

I had an OEM locking gas cap from Dodge dealer. It was $15 and in stock. Ran for about a year with no problems. Didn't have the string attachment and drove off with on the roof one day and put the stocker back on.

You just need to make sure the cap still turns and "clicks" in the locked position. Most new (last 5 years) caps do that and work fine.

Pix are from a Gen2 and a DOCers Durango. IN FACT? most don't know that the EXACT fuel door on the Black D was once on INDYDURANGO's D too? for about 2 weeks when it was new out of the box. (I swapped for a brushed alum one.)
